NUAR update - Openreach data is now live in NUAR!

Openreach data is now live in NUAR

  • Openreach has added location data including ducts, conduits, poles, cabinets, and chambers, for over 550,000 kilometres of its network to the NUAR platform. With the UK’s largest broadband network provider onboard, NUAR now holds detailed information for an over 3.2 million kilometres of pipes, covering 80% of known assets underneath the ground across electricity, gas, water, pipeline operators, and telecoms. As work continues with asset owners to capture more data, the platform is edging closer to achieving full coverage for the subterranean network below ground.
  • Trevor Linney, Networks Director at Openreach says: “As the UKs largest telecommunications infrastructure provider we are pleased to have started our NUAR journey. Safety is our number one priority, and today Openreach provides information to other providers needing to dig near our infrastructure. NUAR has the potential to provide the ‘one stop shop’ for users to view everyone infrastructure in a consolidated and unified way, helping keep everyone safe and preventing damage and disruption.”

NUAR Technology demo

It was great to have over 350 people attend the webinar on Thursday 6 Nov. These demos will happen every three months and you can sign up for the next one on follow this link to register.

Platform Improvements:

The newest updates went live on 18 November and included:

  • Removal of misleading pan and zoom functionality on PDF creation.
  • The ability to press Enter after typing your two-factor authentication code on login.
  • Reduced size of gas symbology in PDFs to improve the appearance of maps in PDFs.
  • An improved user journey for editing observations, meaning users are now returned to the observation detail page when cancelling an edit, instead of being returned to the observations list page.

The upcoming release is planned to introduce:

  • Updated Champions toolkit to include the latest version of the content.
  • Web portal updated with Support teams’ telephone number and festive period working hours.
  • Backend developments required for upcoming feature releases.

Top Tips:

For NUAR Admins:

  • For asset owners creating their supply chain: Your role is to establish a link with your supply chain contractor and specify the dates during which they will be working for you. This ensures they have access to the NUAR platform and can operate as efficiently as possible on your behalf. Each supply chain contractor is responsible for managing and administering their own users onto the NUAR platform. As an asset owner, you do not need to add users from a supply chain contractor. Detailed guidance on establishing a link with your supply chain contractor is available on the NUAR platform under Help and Guidance → Setting up a supply chain relationship: https://portal.nuar.uk/help-content/supply-chain-management-help.
  • User capacity: There is no limit to the number of users you can create within your organisation. We encourage you to involve all relevant teams to ensure comprehensive engagement and efficient collaboration across your projects, such as:
    • Design / Pre-Construction
    • Reactive / Emergency Response
    • Construction / Planned Works / Upgrades
    • Operational Sponsors and Communication Specialists

For NUAR Data Leads:

When you upload or refresh data in 1DataGateway, you can download a free data health check report which can be used to improve the quality of your data.
